Hi Maryann, the desert is very very remote. Like, barely anyone there so you shouldn’t have much trouble. I walked well away from our tour group to go behind a rock ;) But, yes not many flushing toilets in the West Desert I’m afraid. It’s left very natural and it’s a rare treat to visit somewhere like that but it is very basic amenities. Sophie x

Hi BT, it’s very much as nature intended if you get my meaning. You go outside (behind a dune or a rock) basically. If you need a number 2 you get given a shovel to dig a hole :) Hope this paints a picture haha :) The toilet paper gets burned. Thanks, Sophie x

Hi yes I was able to take photos of Crystal mountain on my trip and the hot springs were amazing! You can swim in them if you wanted to. Luxor has some incredible restaurants but I would recommend Sofra for some authentic cuisine. It’s a family run restaurant and they are lovely! The Mena House Hotel is a great base as the veiws are incredible. The service in the restaurant is slow but having your meal in the gardens overlooking the pyramids is worth every penny (and the wait lol). I hope you have an incredible time in Egypt! Sophie x

Hi Juliano, I went with Western Desert Tours and they have a ‘Crystal Mountain’ package you can book for 2/3 nights. But, if you wanted to go to a specific location the guys will be more than happy to arrange the stops for oyu if you let them know in advance. It was an amazing trip – I’m sure you’ll love it!
